Ericsson - Volvo Ocean Race Update
November 20th, 2008 Posted in Helly Hansen News | No Comments »The race is on! A few days into leg 2 of the Volvo Ocean Race the sailors are fighting seasickness, ice cold water and broken sails. Puma is faced with some major delaminating in the hull and Green Dragon has broken their boom. Ericsson 3 and 4 are currently heading east to reach the scoring gate to gain some extra points….and to avoid the pirates on the east coast of Africa. Our two boats seems to be doing really well at the moment. Judging from the images we get from the two Ericsson boats they are all wearing Offshore Dry suits and heavy dry tops, which tells us the conditions are extremely wet and cold.

Thomas Coville, skipper of Sodeb’O, commenced his Single-handed round the world record attempt Tuesday 18th November..In order to beat the solo round the world record held since 20th January 2008 by Francis Joyon, Thomas Coville will have to return to Brest in less than 57 days, 13 hours, 34 minutes and 6 seconds.
